Author Lori Sackler: "You need this 5-step-approach"
Which financial strategy should especially families follow? Lori R. Sackler of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has been consulting for over 20 years and has written down the experiences she made in her book "The M Word". Lori Sacklers opinion is: "Everybody should have the right mix in the portfolio."
Sackler also gives some details on how one should invest: "The best mix would be once again a highly diversified portfolio with several different asset classes, with different correlation factors and that you have a long term and a tactical approach. But also you want to have a financial plan in place to help to protect your family." The expert has also summarized five important points in order to ensure successful investing: "First is the transition that you are facing. The second is preparing the inner landscape and the emotional and psychological aspects of money that really make it difficult for families to have these conversations. The third is preparing the outer landscape. So here you want to use professional communication techniques. The fourth is to pick the right professionals. And the fifth is what I call repeat is necessary." Concerning the topic involving real estate, Sackler warns investors of thoughtless actions: "My recommendation is that you always remember that real estate is not without risk. It's not a safe investment and you need to evaluate a real estate investment." Sackler lets everybody decide whether one should buy or rent real estate. She reminds, however, that this depends on personal objectives: "If you need a home to live in and you are prepared to buy a home and hold on to it for the long term, then yes, that's a good idea. If you want to own an investment income producing property, then actually purchasing property with a rental component to it would make sense."
